Mwenga-centre tension rises after FARDC soldier shoots civilian

Mwenga-centre tension escalated on Friday, March 13, after an altercation involving FARDC/Wazalendo and the local population.

According to sources contacted on the ground by RNA-News, the tension began after a FARDC soldier shot a civilian identified as Mukamba Ndebo in the leg, leaving him seriously injured. The victim was rushed to a medical facility for emergency treatment.

Following the incident, unrest spread across several nearby villages, including Kibumba, Mugamba, Kalaga, Masanganziya, and Bwenema.

Witnesses reported hearing both heavy and light gunfire, creating widespread panic and total insecurity among residents already weakened by years of conflict.

The situation remains worrying, with urgent security measures strongly recommended for the area. Reports also indicate that at least three civilians have been victims of violence caused by security forces since the beginning of this year.
