Rwanda Warns It Could Withdraw Troops from Mozambique Over Lack of Guaranteed Funding

The Rwandan government has warned that it could withdraw its troops involved in operations against extremist armed groups in northern Mozambique if sufficient funding for the mission is not guaranteed.

Rwanda has maintained a contingent of around 1,000 soldiers and police officers in Cabo Delgado Province since 2021, supporting efforts to combat insurgents linked to the Islamic State group (IS).
