🇨🇩 DRC: Ebola Treatment Services in Bulape Handed Over to Local Health Authorities After Situation Improves

The Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has officially transferred the management and security of Ebola treatment services in Bulape, Democratic Republic of Congo, to local health authorities on October 24, 2025.

The decision follows a significant improvement in the health situation, with no new Ebola cases reported since September 26, and the last patient declared recovered on October 19.

According to statements from MSF and the Ministry of Health, an official declaration marking the end of the Ebola outbreak is expected by November 30, provided that no new cases emerge.

MSF commended the collaboration between local and international health teams and emphasized the need to reinforce community health systems for faster, sustainable responses to deadly diseases such as Ebola.

“This is an important step toward strengthening local capacity to respond to future outbreaks,” said public health officials.
